Bodyboard
If you want to ride the waves but you aren’t sure surfing is for you, a bodyboard might be your best option. The body boarding technique came from wave riding. In essence, the bodyboard is a small, rectangular piece of hydrodynamic foam. This foam is meant to adapt to all kinds of body sizes.
Unlike surfing, where you have to keep your balance by standing atop the surfboard, body boarding takes place while lying down. Sometimes riders attach their bodyboard to a wrist latch so that they do not lose the body board in the water, especially after falling.
There are many kinds of bodyboard designs available. The best feature a smooth, slick surface, as these do not water-log as quickly or get heavy in the water. For beginners, a tail that curves inward and slopes downward is ideal for getting started.
